Dear Seller

Well, Fall is upon us and it's likely that many of you are gearing up for another busy holiday season!

As for FillZ, there have been a few changes in recent months. We're very pleased to welcome two new members to our Victoria team: Tyler MacDonald and Marc Fournet.

Tyler joined us as Senior Technologist in August 2007. He comes to us with a diverse technical background and we're very impressed with the contributions he's made to FillZ in such a short time.

Marc will be joining the FillZ Team officially in November, but will make an appearance at CIROBE later this month. Marc has been a Senior Account Manager for AbeBooks for the past year and many of you may already be familiar with him. He has a strong Sales and Account Management background and has some great ideas about helping our sellers grow their revenues.

We are also very eagerly searching for our next Customer Support Representative to start with us in November. He/she will be introduced in our next newsletter.

What does all this mean for you? With a larger team, we'll be able to:

*respond to inquiries and technical issues more rapidly
*implement more alert and diagnostic tools
*add and improve on features and functions within FillZ
*seek out new opportunities that will help you sell more

added "pre-authorized seller" restrictions to specific Video Game Products for the duration of the Holiday Buying Season. To find out if some of the items you're carrying are on this list, click here.

*"de-cluttered" the "Your Seller Account" pages. They reduced the number of links on the page for easier navigation.

Alibris:

*
working on enhancing CD and DVD listings. Alibris has always focused on books and is staring to broaden their expertise.

*testing of the Half.com Partner Program continues through October. Alibris reported that they received more than 26,000 orders through the beta-test in four weeks.

AbeBooks:

*
updated Canada Shipping Matrix. If you're a Canadian seller, you may want to adjust your International Shipping costs using the new increased shipping maximums. If you haven't seen the announcement, Abe has posted it in their Discussion Forum. Log in to the Forum and search under "AbeBooks Announcements".

Barnes& Noble:

*
launched a redesigned site focusing on customer-facing features: enhancements to search and browse, online review components, pod-casts, and social networking capabilities. To read the Press Release, click

Facebook:

has added a "Book Exchange" feature for buyers and sellers looking to buy or sell used books. Check it out if you have a Facebook account, by clicking
here.

The interface is a bit clunky right now and is mostly geared towards buyers, but it will be interesting to see what happens with this as the popularity of Facebook continues to soar. Maybe another Marketplace...?


 

What FillZ Has Been Working On

Our Technical Team has been very busy working on the following improvements and bugs:

Order Exports: We added two additional fields to the order export report:

payment_method
item_condition

If you are using FTP automation for order confirmation, you will want to ensure that your system is set up to accept these new fields.

a1 Books: In August, we integrated order retrieval for the a1 Marketplace. a1 also announced a special subscription-free offer for all FillZ sellers. For more information, check our
forum posting.

Alibris & B&N Confirmation Emails: Barnes & Noble has asked that sellers refrain from sending confirmation emails to buyers. In compliance with their request, we have suppressed this feature for all Barnes & Noble orders, including those retrieved from Alibris' Partner Program. For more details, please click
here.

Incorrect Prices on Half.com Orders: A few sellers reported that orders from Half.com were displaying the sale price as a penny lower than what the buyer actually paid. We determined that the problem existed with code in the Half.com order feed and have rolled out a fix to address the glitch.

Security Certificate Expiration: Last week, a few of our servers were affected by expired security certificates, which caused some difficulties for sellers. We have renewed all certificates and the login issues should be resolved. If you are still experiencing problems accessing your account, please send us an email at
support@fillz.com.

Pie Graphs: You may have noticed that your pie charts on the Reports page were microscopic for quite a while. Recently, we rolled in a fix to enlarge the graphic, so you should now be able to see all markets clearly. A major redesign of the Reports feature is on our Development List and will include a comprehensive sales breakdown and listing statistics.

1. You spread the word about FillZ.

I just received a warning email from AbeBooks about listing too many titles with the same ISBN. What can I do?
